From this year's MWC Barcelona, we have come away with one certainty: it has been the least "mobile" Mobile in history. Technology has been redefining traditional business paradigms for some time, and the real and absolutely transversal emergence of artificial intelligence is intensifying this transformative capacity.

Since ChatGPT burst onto the scene in late 2022 to revolutionise everything, we have entered fully into the era of generative AI. The disruptive capacity of a technology is consolidated when there is massive adoption of it and, moreover, it manages to change our routines (in terms of processes, business, content creation, information searches, interaction...) in record time. Today, we talk about environments, tools, agents and prompts in the same way we talked about the latest app a few years ago, but now with an added ambition: we are already trained in the digitisation and transformation of our lives and businesses. We will leave for another occasion the important geopolitical and socio-economic reflection that this implies, and focus on its impact on business.

At this year's Mobile we went beyond discourse and trends, observing how relevant AI agents can be for solving complex problems flexibly, reasoning and planning, beyond simple data processing. In other words, in just three years we have developed intelligent solutions (AI agents) that can scale up to perform tasks requiring cognitive actions: incident resolution, strategy design and execution, customer service improvement or contracting any type of service. These AI agents arrive with the ability to adapt to different scenarios and respond to a constantly changing market.

At the congress, we saw AI agents with enough maturity to generate temporary competitive advantages (everything is temporary in this era!), capable of transforming companies and sectors.

Voice interaction with AI agents is now a reality, removing knowledge barriers related to prompting and the fear of not knowing how to use these technologies. Now we can speak to them and ask them, for example, to act as our personal assistant to book a hotel room in Paris, find the cheapest flights and plan a custom weekend route according to our interests. This is all without lifting a finger, just speaking.

Beyond curiosity and personal use, the true revolution of AI agents will happen in the corporate environment, where this degree of automation will lead to greater efficiency across all types of processes. Having customised AI agents, tailored to each company's needs and peculiarities, is no longer just a use case, but a reality. This will enable internal processes to be transformed, from adapting documentation to different international legal frameworks and making real-time updates based on market fluctuations, to summarising documents or even automatically managing holiday requests.

The emerging enterprise AI agent ecosystem will change current business architectures. The challenge is real and must be actively approached, by participating and building solutions tailored to the actual requirements of our companies.

Oh, and all these agents can be built using different AI ecosystems: OpenAI, Copilot, Gemini, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral.... The battle for the dominant infrastructure remains wide open.

Exciting times lie ahead for explorers of new opportunities, times when the biggest risk is doing nothing.
